Where to Get Engaged in Kos, Greece

Have a think and try and picture taking them to these locations on a normal day if you think they’ll love it without the ring then you’ll know it’ll be even better when you ask the big question!

Below you’ll find some recommendations of the most romantic spots in Kos to give you plenty of inspiration on where to get engaged in Kos and pick one that perfectly matches you and your partner’s energy. After visiting the island around 14 times, we have plenty of tips for visiting these locations in Greece along the way.

Lofaki Restaurant

This restaurant is located in the hills with gorgeous views across the island. If you’re looking to propose to your partner whilst in Kos then this is definitely the perfect place to do so.

The food is exquisite and with such a chilled romantic vibe, you will be in paradise. If you’re planning to visit Lofaki then it would be best to arrange for a taxi to take you there and back unless you’re renting a car.

They also can help you with your proposal. They offer packages to help you make it special so if you choose this awesome spot then get in touch with them and they can help make it a better day for you both.

This is the place that we got engaged and it was absolutely perfect! Liam arranged a professional photographer who pretended to take photos of all the guests so that the surprise proposal wasn’t ruined for Amy. After Liam had proposed, fireworks went off in the background and the staff came over with a bottle of champagne for us to enjoy. It was such a special moment for both of us and the most stunning setting.

Mylotopi

Mylotopi is a small village within Kefalos that has so much charm and character for you and your partner to enjoy together. One of the things that we love the most is not just the views but also the cute windmill within the village.

You will be able to walk around together enjoying the scenery and the cobbled streets of the village whilst experiencing a more traditional side of Kos island. Mylotopi is a good place to relax with a few drinks and look over a beautiful view and at the right time the sun hits the town perfectly so that you can pop the question.

Mylotopi is a great location to get engaged in Kos and offers beautiful views so this is a great place to propose for couples.

Mount Dikaios

This is a perfect viewpoint for our more active couples because it will definitely involve a little bit of hiking. Once you get to the top of Mount Dikaios, you will be astounded by the views across the island.

Mount Dikaios is generally an easy hike so that is always good news when you’re visiting during the hot season. On a clear day, you will even be able to see the heart shaped salt lake in Tigaki.

This is an ultimate free romantic activity to do together in Kos as once you arrive at the top of the mountain, you will be able to appreciate that this is a hike that you have done together and enjoy the beautiful views as an achievement. Once on top of Mount Dikaios you’ll have the perfect moment to ask the question.

Plaka Forest

This is an incredible place to visit whilst you’re on the island. It is a beautiful forest to stroll through together and watch some of the peacocks. Plaka forest is not as well-known to tourists as it is out of the way from other tourist attractions.

The forest is incredibly calming and the perfect spot to enjoy placid vibes together. You will find this haven near the small village of Antimachia close to Kefalos. It is the perfect place to step into nature and take a romantic picnic for you both to enjoy. It is one of our favourite things to do in Kos and absolutely cannot be missed!

For any animal lovers, you will also find that there will sometimes be a cat rescue located here. While enjoying seeing the animals you’ll have a cool and unique proposal as you can ask the questions with peacocks all around you.

Kos Waterfront

The waterfront itself is very romantic and taking a stroll along here will definitely spark something in you both. Why not grab a traditional Greek coffee whilst you wander along the water?

It is a beautiful sight to watch the boats and enjoy the lights twinkling. There are plenty of benches along the waterfront as well so you can stop and maybe enjoy some crepes and a coffee.

It is very peaceful here and a lovely place to ask someone to marry you and perfect for any couples that want a low-key proposal. You’ll feel as if no one else is around even though other people will be enjoying the waterfront as well.

Tam Tam Beach

Tam Tam is easily our favourite beach. Simply, because it is a lot less touristy than most of the others on the island. The beach has beautiful golden sand. It is the perfect place to relax whilst enjoying some vitamin C and the sea too!

There is a small taverna where you will be able to enjoy a great lunch for when you want to have a break from the sun. You will also find a quirky little shop where there are plenty of boutique and handmade souvenirs.

This beach is a gorgeous little haven away from the tourist hustle and bustle. It will leave you to enjoy quality time together in the sun. You can go for a walk around the beach and then ask the big question.

Theses where just 6 places where you can consider popping the question but we also have a post devoted to romantic spots in Kos to help you find the right place if theses 6 didn’t seem just right.

What is the Best Time of Year to Get Engaged in Kos?

Its hard to pick the best time to go and visit Greece for getting engaged you want to guarantee the best weather possible. The best time to go is normally between June and September the weather is in the high 20s and you’re guaranteed sun. August is when the water temper is normally at its height in Greece.

For those who would rather a cooler time of year you would be looking at May to October during this time you can see the temperatures in the mid and low 20s. The weather is a lot nicer and the sun can still be out to enjoy the beautiful island. Some people will rather this time of the year since you’ll have less chance of sunburn and you don’t want to have a sun burnt face in the photos after they say yes.

The winter time is a bit different this is from November to April the weather is still better than places like the UK but it does tend to rain during this time. If you were to go around this time, we would recommend that you go more towards April as the weather is mild. Its a good time of year to see the island because even though the chance of rain is still there, you can also get lucky and have a week when it won’t rain. A bonus is that you will also find that they are even less tourists.

Overall, any time of year is a good time to visit Kos in Greece but it all depends on what kind of temperature you are looking for. No matter when you do visit Kos, you’ll have a good time and make that perfect day for you and your special someone.

Things to Remember for Getting Engaged in Kos

Don’t stress about everything going right, sometimes things can go wrong. You can’t help that! As an example, if you’re at a restaurant and want to propose at the end of the meal but someone on another table does it before you, don’t panic!

If you're wondering where to get engaged in Kos then Lofaki is the perfect spot. This image shows the beautiful meal we had at Lofaki and Amy with her Pina Colada cocktail.

Things like this can happen and you just have to take it for what it is no matter what. It’s still your day and the moment will be amazing the second you ask that important question.

When Liam asked, we were at a restaurant with a beautiful view and amazing food but Amy was feeling very ill at the time but Liam had all this stuff planned and convinced her to go to dinner with him and Amy was so happy she agreed to go for that dinner. So DO NOT STRESS!

Planning the Timing of Your Proposal in Kos

“Timing is everything” as they say and this is no different when it comes to Kos. The big one is usually sunrise and sunset as it makes for a perfect time and a beautiful moment. However, sometimes timing is more about the moment than anything.

If you’re walking on a beach and no one is around or just before you order dessert after a meal, these are all perfect moments too. There’s no way for someone to tell you what time to pop the question, it’s all about if it feels right for you as a couple. If it feels right to you then do it and everything will fall into place. Failing this, during the sunset is always a good way to do it in our opinion.

Extra Surprises For Your Proposal in Kos

When it comes to extras we don’t think you need to go crazy but sometimes by sharing what you’re planning with family members, they can help you make it that little bit special even by just facetiming to share the happy moment.

You can also talk to the hotel that you’re staying in and ask them to make the room nice for when you get back in. It’s the little details that can make the moment even more special. Maybe ask for some flowers and a bottle of champagne. These small extras can end your night that little bit more special for the both of you.
