Faro is one of the most luxurious places to visit with stunning weather and amazing activities so you will want to stay at one of the best boutique hotels in Faro Portugal to complete this experience.

When we originally travelled to Faro, we were on quite a tight budget and we stayed at Casa Algarbe. It was an excellent place to stay but we did decide that the next time we come back that we would stay in style.

A few of the boutique hotels on our bucket list have of course made this list which is what of course helped us build this list for you to choose from.

Faro Marina is one of the most beautiful places to visit. You should consider booking one of the boutique hotels in Faro that has a view of the marina.

We originally spent around 4 days in Faro but if you’re looking to take a weekend break then Faro is the perfect destination for that. For this reason, we’ve also created guides on how to spend 1 day in Faro and a 2 day itinerary for Faro because you will easily be able to explore some of the best sights during this time. However, if you have a bit more time then you may prefer to look at our 3 days in Faro itinerary which is much more in-depth.

Whether you’re a couple travelling together to celebrate an anniversary, looking for the perfect faro vacation for a proposal or you might even be enjoying a luxury solo holiday.

Whatever the occasion and whoever you’re travelling with, we are certain that you will fall in love with one of the 9 boutique hotels in Faro Portugal that we’ve recommended below.

3HB Faro

This hotel is close to Faro centre and is easily one of the best hotels in Faro. Everything about this hotel screams luxury and we can guarantee that you will be looking forward to coming back here to relax after a long day of exploring.

One of the things that we love the most about this boutique hotel is that it offers stunning views of the city that will really take your breath away.

Up on the terrace, you will be able to enjoy these gorgeous city views with a glass of wine in hand. There is also an infinity pool so if you’re wanting to soak up some of the beautiful weather in Faro then you will be able to do so looking out onto the city.

There is also an outdoor fireplace so if you’re visiting Faro during the off peak season then you will be able to get cosy and enjoy your evening with these views too.

With 2 restaurants at the hotel, if you feel like having a lazy day then you won’t need to go far to grab a bite to eat. During our travels, we’ve had days like this where we just want to rest and save our feet for a sightseeing adventure the following day.

We would really recommend for couples travelling together to stay at this hotel for a relaxing, romantic experience in Faro.

AP Eva Senses

Whilst we were visiting Faro, we kept hearing great things about AP Eva Senses and we decided to head up to one of their rooftop positions.

This was one of the best decisions we made whilst we were in Faro because their rooftop was just incredible. We made the decision that when we next visit Faro that this will be the hotel that we stay at based on that experience.

Their rooftop has a pool that overlooks the city and they have regular DJ events too. The hotel is absolutely stunning and we even go to see someone having their wedding reception at the hotel too.

There are two bars available at the hotel and you can get incredible views over the marina and the Ria Formosa lagoon too.

One of the best parts is that this hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the train station. If you’re planning to take a trip to Lisbon too then this is easily accessible from Faro train station.

We would highly recommend staying at this hotel during your time in Faro and we know that this will be the top of our list for our next visit.

Roots Hotel Apartments

This stunning boutique hotel has a lot to offer travellers with it’s modern and Instagrammable interior. There is an outdoor pool available with a rock wall feature that makes for some excellent photo opportunities.

For any families travelling to Faro, there are plenty of family rooms available to you. It is also a really good location for couples too where you will be able to make lots of great memories.

It is in an excellent location close to the Old Town and there is also parking available for an additional cost. If you’re planning to rent a car for your time in Portugal then you won’t need to worry about parking as you know it will be safe. It’s a great idea to rent a car if you’re planning to go on day trips from Faro to some of the small towns in the Algarve.

You can also rent a bicycle at the hotel too which is a great way to get around Faro and enjoy some of the other sights within the Algarve.

Lemon Tree Stay

Another amazing boutique hotel in Faro is the Lemon Tree Stay and it also features on our general where to stay in Faro list too!

The one thing we really like about this hotel is that it has a traditional Portuguese feel to the place. The lemon tree in the courtyard and red tiles really does give off those vacation vibes.

This hotel also has a small rooftop available and is quite cosy to enjoy those balmy summer evenings in Portugal. There are only 8 rooms at the Lemon Tree Stay which is one of the things we like the most because it isn’t a busy hotel complex.

Lemon Tree Stay can also arrange a variety of activities which takes a lot of the stress away from you too. This is a great choice for a hotel in Faro and it’s not too expensive either.

Pure Formosa Concept

We actually only found out about this hotel recently but everything about it screams luxury and if it is within your budget, it is well worth the stay. It is located just outside of Faro in Olhao which is an incredible day trip from Faro.

One of the biggest draws to this hotel is the stunning poolside area that overlooks the town. You will also be able to enjoy eating outdoors on the rooftop with a spectacular city backdrop.

There is a buffet and continental breakfast included with your stay so that is one less meal that you need to worry about spending money for.

Even though it is quite a luxury hotel, it is also recommended for families to stay here and has a really inviting atmosphere. The only downside is that it is not actually in Faro itself but it’s such a beautiful boutique hotel that we had to include it. If you’re renting a car though, you will have no problems getting in between the two.

Opus One Luxury Guest House

Even though this is a guest house as opposed to a boutique hotel, we know that it had to be on this list because it really does hold such a boutique vibe.

We would recommend this guest house for couples who are looking to enjoy a romantic vacation in particular because it really is like a small haven away from the hustle and bustle.

There is a stunning outdoor pool that is secluded and can be set up for a romantic evening with candles around the outskirt of the pool.

A billiards table is also available which for us as a couple is something that is quite important because we really enjoy playing billiards together.

The guest house has a bar, restaurant and a hammam so it really is a romantic retreat away. We wouldn’t necessarily recommend this hotel for families in Faro because it is more of a couple’s retreat.

Hotel Faro & Beach Club

Hosting one of the best restaurants in Faro, Hotel Faro & Beach Club is a beautiful location for you to spend your time in Faro.

If you’re looking to enjoy some relaxation then this hotel in the heart of Faro is an excellent choice. You will walk away from this hotel feeling rejuvenated and at peace before getting back to you day-to-day life.

With a restaurant, gym, spa and comfy rooms, this hotel leaves little for you to ask for. The only downside to staying in this hotel is that you truly won’t want to leave.

However, Hotel Faro & Beach Club has you covered and can arrange boat tours for you as well. If money is not as much of an object then this boutique hotel in Faro is one you definitely want to splash the cash on because you really won’t regret it.

Aqua Ria Boutique Hotel

Another recommended boutique hotel right in the centre of Faro is the Aqua Ria.

With soundproofed rooms, you will be guaranteed a good nights sleep even though this is in the centre of the town. There is warm lighting set throughout the hotel so you will instantly feel at peace and home within this hotel.

You will find that some of the rooms offer stunning views across Faro’s Old Town too so you may decide to upgrade and get one of these rooms booked.

For anyone that is looking for somewhere eco-friendly to stay in Faro then you’ll be pleased to know that the Aqua Ria has solar panel water heating and an energy and water automatic system.

Whether you’re heading to Faro to enjoy some nightlife, exploration or a relaxing break away, Aqua Ria Boutique Hotel is right in the middle of it all to make all your Faro dreams come true.

Faro Boutique Hotel

If you’re looking for boutique hotels in Faro then the clue is really in the title with this one! There is a massage room at this hotel which is the perfect place to unwind from day-to-day life back home.

There is an excellent area set up for breakfast with continental options available to you. One of the highlights of this hotel is the terrace bar.

The terrace comes complete with sunloungers and shows so you will be able to soak up as much of the Portuguese sun as you can stand. Even though it may be easy to just stay at the hotel, make sure that you head out, do some sightseeing and also enjoy the beautiful beaches located in Faro too.

With a 24-hour reception and a lounge bar available, there is not much else you could want for a hotel. You can even arrange with the hotel for different tours and activities.

In general, this hotel is a great spot for couples travelling to Faro but there are also rooms available for families too!

When we originally stayed in Faro, we were travelling on a budget so we stayed at Casa Algarbe but after plenty of roaming, we created our own mini bucket list of hotels that we knew that we would want to stay at when we come back to visit.

There are so many things to do in Faro that you want to choose a hotel that is right at the centre of it all but so that you can also relax whilst you’re at it.

The communal area at Casa Algarbe

If you’re looking for a hotel that takes you away from it all and you just want to relax, enjoy the sun and come home feeling rejuvenated then we would recommend staying at Faro Hotel & Beach Club. At this hotel, if you don’t want to leave, you really don’t have to!

There are a lot of incredible options to choose from but if we had to narrow it down to 2 hotels then we would recommend either the AP Eva Senses or the Faro Boutique Hotel. Both of these are in a great area and has everything available to you.

Two pints of Sagres at The Old Tavern Faro.

No matter which of these hotels you decide on, you will enjoy your time in Faro and realise that Faro is totally worth visiting.

Enjoy your time in Faro and relax as much as you can. You’ll find that after you leave Faro, you will already want to be planning your next trip back to Portugal!
