If you’re thinking about planning a visit to Seville in September then you’ve definitely come to the right place!

We actually visited Seville last September for our honeymoon and what a great choice it was! We’ve created this article to share with other couples what it is actually like visiting Seville in September and things that you absolutely cannot miss.

Whether you’re taking three days to visit Seville or looking to spend your vacation in Seville during September, this guide will give you everything you need to know so you know what to expect.

Is Seville Worth Visiting in September?

The first question you might be asking yourself before planning your vacation to Seville is that is Seville worth visiting in September?

The answer is yes! Absolutely yes! In our opinion, it was the perfect time to visit to really make the most of everything that Seville has to offer.

You’ll find that during September, Seville is much less crowded so you’re able to take advantage of the tourist attractions more easily.

With that in mind, you will also find that the temperatures start to settle down compared to August so that the heat is not unbearable when you’re off sightseeing too.

Essentially, in our opinion, September is actually one of the best times to visit Seville to be able to explore the attractions, enjoy warm temperatures and experience Seville’s culture at it’s fullest.

Weather in Seville in September

One of the main concerns that most people will have about visiting Seville in September is the weather. You may be asking; is Seville hot in September? Or does it rain in Seville in September?

To answer the first question, September in Seville is a very hot time to visit and you can even reach high temperatures of around 32 degrees. Whilst it is a much cooler time of year to visit Seville than August, you will find that there is slightly less humidity.

Despite this, there can be some rainfall in Seville during September which in honesty is much needed at this point to try and clear the air and keep temperatures a little lower.

If you were to visit in August, you will find that most of the locals will travel outside of Seville for their holidays because the temperatures can get so high it is uncomfortable.

During September, the locals tend to come back to work and you’ll find that the temperatures are still warm for you to enjoy either sunbathing or sightseeing. Due to this, you will get to have the best of both worlds!

1. Donana National Park Tour

Donana National Park

We visited Donana National Park during our honeymoon and September was a perfect time to visit. We got to venture into nature and look out for the Iberian Lynx and wander around the national park.

Donana National park is a great day tour from Seville and for anyone that loves nature and learning about culture, this will be right up your street. You will learn more about Seville and the environment as well as the local animals.

2. Visit the Real Alcazar

This is another activity that is great to do anytime in Seville especially if it’s your first visit to the city.

The Real Alcazar is the most famous attraction within Seville and its grandeur will leave you breathless. From the vibrant colours to the impressive architecture, you will be bewildered.

We recommend ensuring that you book tickets for this in advance because the queues can be quite long. Tickets can only be purchased through an official vendor which you can purchase below.

3. Seville Food Tour

No matter what time of year you’re visiting Seville, going on a local food tour is a fantastic idea. Step into the culture even further and learn more about the Sevillian cuisine.

When we went on the food tour, our favourite food item that we tried was Pringa and our mouths are still watering thinking about it. Even if you don’t end up going on a food tour, you absolutely need to try this delicious meat sandwich!

Being that September is the month of the Flamenco festivals, watching a flamenco show whilst you’re visiting Seville in September is the perfect way to spend your time.

There are lots of different Flamenco shows available so it’s imperative that you pick a good one. After doing some research, we chose the Casa de la Memoria and it was a phenomenal choice.

6. Take a trip to Tangier

One of the best things about visiting Seville is that it is a great base to visit other countries too. One of those countries is Tangier in Morocco and it is a great way to tick off more from your bucket list.

If you’re looking for a unique experience or to get some more destinations ticked off then taking a day trip from Seville to Tangier is a great way to spend your time!

As the journey can be tricky, we would not recommend doing this trip independently and instead arrange a guided tour. The reason being is that the train / ferry times don’t quite tie in with each other so you will have more time to explore Tangier by going on a group tour instead.

7. Take a day trip to Gibraltar

Furthermore on your quest to tick off new destinations, you can take a day trip to visit Gibraltar. As Gibraltar can be quite an expensive place to stay, doing a day trip from Seville is a perfect solution.

This is another trip that we would recommend using a guided tour instead of exploring independently. Just don’t forget to take your passports with you!

From the culture, the friendly locals, the delicious food all the way to the cobbled back streets that you can get lost in, Seville has so much to offer couples.

As September is just after the Sevillian summer, you will find that temperatures slowly start to cool down and you will be able to wander around and explore sights easily whilst still getting a tan.
