What is Seville Known For?

One of the biggest things that Seville is known for is the beautiful Real Alcazar. Stroll through the stunning gardens and admire the stunning architecture within the Alcazar. One of the most special parts about the Real Alcazar is the mix between Muslim and Christian features that combine together to make such a stunning palace.

Seville in general is renowned for its incredible architecture, winding streets and cobblestoned streets. It is really true when they say that you can get lost in Seville!

Not to mention that the food in Seville is some of the best within Spain. Whilst we were in Seville, we went on a food tour with Spain Food Sherpas and it really opened up our minds and expanded our taste buds with the delicious tapas dishes that are made within Seville!

Getting Around Seville

It is really easy to get around Seville because most of the main sites are within walking distance. In honesty, walking is probably the easiest way to get around the city and you will also get to see a lot of hidden sights along the way!

Bus – if you don’t want to walk or where you’re planning to go is a bit further out then the buses in Seville are really reliable. If you want to head around the city then the 44 bus covers most of the city. It is also a really affordable way to explore with bus tickets costing €1.40. If you’re planning to use the bus a lot whilst you’re in Seville, it might be worth purchasing a reloadable card as this can save you money. It’s only beneficial though if you’re planning on using it a lot and in Seville for more than 1 day.

Metro – the metro is also great public transport in Seville but once again, it is probably best to use this if you’re planning to go a little further afield. There is one metro line with 22 stations so it is not as spread out but it can get you to your destination quickly. It is also not too expensive with starting costs at €1.35.

Tram – the tram is the easiest way to get around Seville and runs a very similar route to the Metro. This makes it easy to get around the city and connects Plaza Nueva to Prado de San Sebastian. You can purchase tickets for around €1.20 from machines at the stations and then stamp them once you’re on the tram itself.

Train – if you’re planning on doing day trips from Seville because you’re staying longer than 1 day or you’re arranging your travel onwards from Seville then the train is the best option. The train from Seville connects you to lots of other Spanish destinations as well as Portugal too! Faro in Portugal is only 2 hours away and we actually recommend Seville as a great day trip from Faro

Where to Stay in Seville for 1 Night

We stayed at the AOA Natty Urban Apartments and in this photo you can see the quirky decorations such as a rhinos head and a spindle staircase going down to the bedroom.

If you’re only staying in Seville for 1 night then you want to make sure that it is somewhere special as well as central and accessible to the main sights in Seville.

Below we’ve added 3 recommendations of places that you can stay in Seville for those that are on a budget, mid-range travellers as well as travellers looking for a sprinkle of luxury in Seville.

If these recommendations are not exactly what you’re looking for then underneath these you can find an interactive map that will show you the locations of different accommodations in Seville and a rough guide on pricing per night!

1 Day in Seville Full Itinerary

You may have already seen our short 1 day itinerary for Seville but if you want more details about all the amazing things to do in 1 day in Seville then you’ve come to the right place.

09:00 Breakfast at La Cacharreria

To start your day in Seville, you need to make sure that you have a delicious breakfast to give you energy for all the exploring that you’re going to do.

La Cacharreria is one of the best places to go for breakfast no matter what your dietary requirements are. When we stopped for breakfast here, Amy had their Avocado toast which came with Teriyaki chicken and was a really unique twist to this popular brunch dish.

Our breakfast at La Cacharreria which consists of avocado toast with teriyaki chicken and a jamon roll. This is a great place for breakfast if you only have 1 day in Seville

Liam had a tasty sandwich from La Cacharreria which had jamon, salad and garlic olive oil. It was absolutely delicious and the presentation was incredible.

If you’re someone that is looking for Instagrammable food spots in Seville then La Cacharreria is one of the best places to start. From acai bowls, smoothies, pastries and brunch delicacies, this is a perfect spot for meat-eaters, vegetarians and vegans!

10:00 Palacio de las Duenas

Other than the Real Alcazar, the Palacio de las Duenas is probably one of the most popular spots that you will see on Instagram. It really is a picturesque museum that has a gothic vibe despite being filled with the typical Sevillian yellow.

You will be able to wander around the Palace, gardens and museum to learn more about the significance of the palace and the importance it holds within Seville.

You can spend at least an hour or an hour and a half wandering around the palace and taking it all in. It is a very popular attraction so be prepared for queues to get in and that it can get quite crowded at times.

It does cost to enter into the palace of approximately €13 but it is definitely worth the visit. If you’re planning to visit Seville on a Monday then you will want to go in the afternoon because it is free to enter. If you are visiting Seville on a Monday then switch out going to the Cathedral in the afternoon and replace it with the palace.

You will also find lots of different events throughout the year such as opera evenings, night tours and so much more!

11:30 Visit Las Setas

Las Setas is one of the main spots to visit in Seville and it is an architectural piece with a viewpoint at the top.

Otherwise known as the mushroom, Las Setas is one of the most prominent places within Seville. If you’re planning to go on any tours within Seville then it is most likely that this will be the meeting point.

It is a beautiful architectural piece that gives Seville a unique charm. Take some time to head up to the top of Las Setas for a unique view of the city.

At night, you will find that Las Setas is lit up and casts a beautiful light across the city. Even if you adapt this itinerary, no matter what time of day you visit Las Setas you will be impressed by the marvelous view.

It costs €15 to go to the viewpoint and experience the multisensory film as well. However, it is always worth checking regularly to see if there are any promotions running as well.

If you don’t want to pay to go to the viewpoint then you can still wander underneath Las Setas and take a photo with the ‘I Love Seville’ sign.

For anyone that is interested in learning more about the significance of Las Setas then we’ve popped a recommended guided tour below where you can also add on an optional city tour too!

12:00 Wander around Seville Old Town

Even though your time is limited with only 1 day in Seville, you definitely need to make sure that you take some time wandering around the old town.

We think that it is also important to try and leave some of the itinerary open so that you can get yourself lost and appreciate the beauty of Seville.

When we wandered around Seville without a plan, we stumbled upon a couple of amazing art galleries hidden in a small courtyard filled with beautiful plants and greenery.

Its small hidden gems like this that make exploring a city really worthwhile and leaves memories with you!

12:30 Lunch at Los Soportales

After going on a tapas tour in Seville, we were shown this incredible spot and we really do recommend it. Later in this itinerary, we recommend spending the evening of your 1 day in Seville by going on a tapas walking tour so you will be able to experience this yourself if that is what you decide to do!

We went on a food tour with Spain Food Sherpas and it introduced us to the delicious Sevillian tapas dish called pringa. If you only have 1 day in Seville then this is a tapas dish you absolutely cannot miss!

This spot is always very busy with locals so you may have to share a table with others to be able to get a seat. However, it is so worth it so we really recommend getting a bite to eat!

Hot tip: If you can choose anything to eat on the menu, ask for Pringa! We became obsessed with this Sevillian tapas dish that after trying it once, we had it everyday after.

13:30 Stop at Delicias de Sevilla

After filling your boots with tasty Sevillian tapas, head along the street and make sure that you stop off at Delicias de Sevilla for something sweet!

In the shop, they make caramelised nuts and sweets which still make our mouth water thinking about it now!

Within the shop, you will be shown how the different sweet treats are made and even be given some to taste before you purchase. Honestly, we liked every single thing we tried but we were limited on how much we could bring back.

We ended up purchasing some coconut and sunflower seeds which were our favourites. There were also plenty of delicious nougats as well so you will not be disappointed!

14:00 La Terazza del EME

Liam enjoying a beer admiring the views of the streets around Seville cathedral.

After all that food and early morning exploring, stop off for a cocktail on this incredible rooftop with some stunning views of the Cathedral.

It is only a small rooftop so it can sometimes be quite busy but the view is awesome and it’s great to watch the world go by with a cocktail or a glass of wine!

14:30 Seville Alcazar

Now for one of the main attractions in Seville, the Real Alcazar of Seville! This is one of the best things to do in Seville and something that you absolutely cannot miss.

As this is one of the main attractions, unsurprisingly, it can get quite busy so you will want to purchase your entrance ticket in advance if you can!

The Real Alcazar of Seville is a really important part of Seville’s history and heritage and was founded in the Middle-Ages. There is a lot to learn so we recommend arranging either a guided or audio tour so that you can appreciate the significance.

If you’re just interested in seeing the Alcazar then you’ll be pleased to know that it is also an incredibly Instagrammable spot to visit in Seville!

You can only purchase tickets on the official Alcazar website here so make sure that you don’t buy them elsewhere as they won’t be valid!

16:00 OPTIONAL: Seville Cathedral

Depending on whether you decide to go for a guided tour of the Alcazar or not, depends on whether you will have enough time to visit Seville’s Cathedral.

If you are short on time, make sure that you at least visit the outside of the cathedral to appreciate the grandeur of the architecture.

However, if you do have the time then you will want to go inside Seville’s cathedral and appreciate the beauty of the interior. Before visiting the cathedral, make sure that you check the opening times to ensure that you won’t be visiting during times of mass.

17:30  Wander around Plaza de Espana

Take your time to explore around Plaza de Espana, one of the most beautiful plazas within Seville. The plaza is absolutely huge and it will take you a good amount of time to wander around and take in everything.

You may even want to sit down for a little while and watch the world go by as tourists snap their photos, locals chase around their children and go about their day.

It is in our opinion, one of the most picturesque spots within Seville so if you’re travel bloggers like us then you will want to spend a good amount of time here to capture the beauty.

18:30 Tapas Food Tour

Barrels of different Sevillian wine that you can try. In this restaurant, it is pored straught from barrel to glass.

Going on a tapas food tour with Spain Food Sherpas was up there as one of our favourite activities within the city. It really opened our eyes and gave us plenty of knowledge for the best places to go to eat!

One of the biggest takeaways from this tour is trying the incredible pringa. It is made differently in every single restaurant and it is meat (either pork or beef) slow cooked in a soup, the soup is served as a different dish and then meat is then taken and used in sandwiches. It is honestly one of the most delicious dishes we tried in Seville.

On this tour, you will find lots of amazing food spots and different tapas dishes to try which will make your mouth water. You’ll also be shown different drinks that pair well with the dishes too so you know what to order if you come back to Seville.

If there’s any tours that you need to go on whilst you’re in Seville then this food tour is an absolute must!

22:00 Flamenco Show at Casa de la Memoria

To finish off your time in Seville, you need to experience a flamenco show and immerse yourself in the Spanish culture. One of the things we liked the most about this flamenco show is that it is quite small and intimate.

We found that the beat of the music really hit our souls and at times made tears flood into Amy’s eyes and give us goosebumps. It was honestly a really wholesome experience and something that every visitor to Sevillle should see!
