How Long to Spend in Seville?

Three days in Seville is just the right amount of time to experience the city’s main attractions while still allowing some flexibility for relaxation and spontaneous exploration.

If you can extend your stay, a week would let you dive even deeper into the culture and discover some hidden gems in the surrounding Andalusian region. However, if time is limited, this 3 day Seville itinerary ensures you’ll get the most out of your visit.

We spent 6 days in Seville and we found that for us it wasn’t enough because there was still so much we wanted to do. This is especially true if you’re planning to do day trips to Gibraltar or Tangier on Morocco. If you’re someone that likes to tick off as many countries and experiences as possible then Seville is definitely a great place to do that.

You will be able to do small trips to many other regions of Spain from Seville and tick off a few countries as well. For this reason alone, we would recommend trying to spend at least a week. However, if for this particular trip you’re looking to just explore Seville itself then 3 days is a great amount of time to dive into the sights.

We recommend that before you visit that you check into the best time to visit Seville as there are definitely some months that are more preferable than others. For example in July & August, the temperatures can be so warm that some of the shops and attractions close down as it is too hot to operate. Make sure that you do your research before visiting so that you can really make your trip perfect!

When we went on the Donana National Park tour we were also taken to a beautiful beach. This image shows Liam standing on the edge of a sand slope taking some photos and videos of the beautiful beach.

Where to Stay in Seville for 3 Nights

For a convenient and comfortable stay, consider accommodation near the city centre or the historic Santa Cruz neighborhood. Staying in this area provides easy access to Seville’s best sights, with most attractions within walking distance.

When we visited Seville, we opted to stay in the AOA Natty Urban Apartments which for us was a great private space to ourselves close to the city centre. We loved how quirky the apartment was and it came with everything that we could have possibility needed for the 6 days we were staying in Seville. However, if you’re looking for something a bit different then here are three top recommendations for different budgets:

– Budget Option: The Nomad Hostel & Lounge

Perfect for budget travellers, The Nomad Hostel & Lounge is located in the heart of Seville, close to major attractions such as the Cathedral and the Alcázar. The hostel offers clean and comfortable dorm rooms, private rooms, and a relaxed rooftop terrace where you can meet other travellers. Guests appreciate the friendly staff and daily activities like walking tours and flamenco shows that make it a great place for solo travellers and those looking to make friends.

– Mid-Range Option: Hotel Amadeus & La Musica

This charming hotel is ideal for mid-range budgets, combining comfort and a central location. Situated in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, the hotel features a classical music theme with elegant rooms and communal areas. You’ll enjoy cozy interiors, a rooftop terrace with stunning views, and a hot tub. The hotel is within walking distance of major attractions, and the welcoming atmosphere ensures a pleasant stay. If you’re travelling as a couple and looking to stay in a lovely hotel then this is the option we would recommend for you.

– Luxury Option: Hotel Alfonso XIII

To take things up a notch and enjoy  a touch of luxury, Hotel Alfonso XIII is an exquisite choice. As one of Seville’s most iconic hotels, it offers opulent rooms, exceptional service, and stunning architecture. The hotel’s interior features a blend of Moorish, Andalusian, and Castilian styles, while the outdoor pool and lush gardens provide a tranquil retreat. Located just steps away from the Cathedral and the Alcázar, it’s perfect for travelers seeking a premium experience. Again, if you’re travelling as a couple to Seville and looking for a romantic, luxurious break away then Hotel Alfonso XIII is what you’re looking for!

3 Days in Seville Full Itinerary

When we got home from Seville, even though we had spent 6 days there ourselves, we spent time going on day trips and a couple of days just mooching around relaxing as we were on our honeymoon after all! We came home and looked at the things we had done and things we wish we had time for and compiled it into this wonderful 3-day itinerary for you!

Day 1: Dive Into Seville’s Rich Culture

09:00 – Breakfast at La Cacharrería

Start your day with a hearty Andalusian breakfast at La Cacharrería, a quaint café known for its cosy atmosphere and delightful menu. One of the things we appreciated the most about this breakfast spot is that it catered to all dietary requirements. Whether you’re a meat-eater, vegetarian, gluten-free, vegan or anything else, you are bound to find a delicious breakfast option awaiting you at La Cacharreria.

Teriyaki Chicken Avocado Toast & Ham breakfast roll that we got at La Cacharreria. This is a breakfast place that you need to add to your 3 days in Seville itinerary.

Enjoy freshly squeezed orange juice, traditional tostadas topped with tomato and olive oil, and a cup of strong Spanish coffee. The rustic interior and friendly staff will give you a warm welcome to Seville. We would say that the prices are quite average in this café so if you’re travelling on a budget this may not be the best option for you but just remember that you deserve a treat too; especially on your first day in Seville!

10:00 – Las Setas Viewing Point

Head over to Las Setas, also known as the Metropol Parasol or The Mushroom, a striking wooden structure located in the old quarter. You will find that this is the usual meeting place for any tours in Seville so it is definitely worth getting well-acquainted with this area.

Las Setas unique architecture provides an excellent contrast to the city’s historic surroundings and it is simply hard to miss. Take the elevator to the top and enjoy panoramic views of Seville’s skyline. It’s the perfect spot to snap some photos and get your bearings.

There is a charge to go to the top of Las Setas viewing point and at the time of writing this it costs 15 euros per person but they also offer deals for groups and family’s, plus kids 5 and under get to go for free. However, with this price, you get access to the panoramic viewpoint and the underground museum which we recommend you visiting as a combination with this viewpoint.

11:00 – Antiquarium Museum

As we mentioned in the last itinerary item, you can purchased combined tickets to visit Las Setas viewpoint and also the Antiquarium Museum. Located beneath Las Setas, the Antiquarium Museum houses Roman and Moorish artifacts discovered during the construction of the Metropol Parasol.

The exhibits offer a fascinating glimpse into Seville’s past, showcasing mosaics, ceramics, and other archaeological finds. This hidden gem provides an excellent insight into the city’s rich history. When you enter Las Setas to purchase your tickets, you will be shown a couple of these artifacts which gives you a great insight into the history you will get to see if you purchase a ticket to the museum along with the viewpoint.

12:00 – Seville Food Tour

Honestly, going on a food tour in Seville was truly the highlight of our time in the city and it gave us an incredible insight into the rich food culture that is present within the city. If it wasn’t for this food tour, we wouldn’t have found our new favourite Spanish tapas; Pringa!

Head off on this food tour and discover the flavours of Seville that will take you to some of the city’s best tapas bars and markets. Taste traditional dishes like jamón ibérico, gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp), and local cheeses, all while learning about the city’s culinary traditions from your knowledgeable guide. The tour will not only satisfy your appetite but also provide a cultural context for the dishes you’re enjoying.

When we went on a food tour with Spain food Sherpas we got taken to a sweetshop and tried these delicious almonds, walnuts and sunflower seeds that are cooked with roasted caramel. Absolutely delicious and worth stopping off!

There are a lot of different food tours on offer in Seville so if you weren’t sure which one to choose then we highly recommend the tour that we joined with Spain Food Sherpas. On the tour we were taken around multiple restaurants and bodegas sampling a variety of dishes and local drinks.

As we mentioned, we found our favourite on the tour which is called Pringa. For anyone that hasn’t heard of this before, it is a small sandwich made out of the meat taken from a soup on warm bread. It sounds simple but it is absolutely delicious and we wholeheartedly recommend trying this dish even if you decide not to take the food tour!

15:00 – Seville Cathedral

After a satisfying food tour, visit the Seville Cathedral, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world. Admire its stunning architecture, elaborate altarpiece, and the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Be sure to climb the Giralda Tower for breathtaking views of the city and capture those Instagram photos. The cathedral’s grandeur and historical significance make it a must-see attraction.

You will find that the Cathedral can be quite busy so we’ve scheduled an hour and a half on the itinerary for this so that you have plenty of time to queue and wander around the Cathedral and viewpoint. There’s nothing worse than being on your travels and having to wizz around everywhere!

16:30 – Cocktail at EME Catedral Rooftop Bar

If you needed less time at the Cathedral than we anticipated then that only means one thing, an extra drink at this awesome rooftop bar!

Take a well-deserved break and enjoy a cocktail at the EME Catedral Rooftop Bar. With a view overlooking the Cathedral, it’s the perfect spot to unwind and take in the city’s atmosphere. Try a classic sangria or one of their signature cocktails while enjoying the impressive skyline.

When we visited, we opted for a beer and a white wine but whatever takes your fancy, the views will absolutely blow you away!

18:00 – Flamenco Show at Casa de la Memoria

After visiting a few Flamenco shows now, we have to say that this particular one is one of the best that we’ve seen! Immerse yourself in the passion and rhythm of flamenco at Casa de la Memoria. This intimate venue is renowned for its authentic performances, showcasing the artistry of talented dancers and musicians. The 1-hour show is a great way to experience Seville’s cultural heritage firsthand.

We found that whenever the dancers were clapping along to the music, the sound echoed across the hall and reached into your heart and soul. It is easy to become enchanted within the hour at the beauty and agility of these dances and learn a whole new appreciation for the Flamenco-style dances.

For any 3 days in Seville itinerary then a flamenco show at casa de la memoria is an absolute must! This is one of the best flamenco shows that we've ever been to!

19:00 – Wander Around Plaza de España

End your first day with a leisurely stroll around Plaza de España, an iconic square surrounded by stunning Renaissance Revival architecture. The semi-circular building, beautiful canal, and tiled alcoves representing different regions of Spain create a magical setting, especially as the sun sets. It’s a popular spot for both tourists and locals, and a perfect way to wind down.

If you’re not too full after your food tour then you will want to head off for a bite to eat. Use everything you learned on the food tour and wander around the plaza to find an amazing spot to sit down and grab a bite to eat.

Day 2: Explore Beyond Seville

As we mentioned in the introduction to this blog post, there is so much more to see beyond Seville and it is a great base to explore other regions of Spain as well as take a day trip to Gibraltar or Tangier in Morocco.

If you’re going to either Gibraltar or Morocco these are very long days so you will want to make sure that you are well-rested. Your tours usually start early hours of the morning and you will spend a lot of time travelling but you will get to see some beautiful sights along the way.

For this reason alone, as you only have 3 days in Seville, we recommend an alternative option of going on a day trip to the stunning Donana National Park and immerse yourself in nature. However, no matter which day trip you decide on, you will still have an epic time!

Choose one of the following day trips to experience the beauty of Andalusia beyond the city:

– Option 1: Day Trip to Doñana National Park

When you're in Seville, you will definitely want to plan a trip to Donana National Park with Naturanda. This image shows the Naturanda guide explaining and educating us on the wildlife at this beautiful national park.

Embark on a guided tour of Doñana National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its diverse ecosystems and wildlife. Spot migratory birds, endangered species like the Iberian lynx, and marvel at the park’s pristine wetlands, dunes, and forests. It’s an ideal day trip for nature lovers and offers a break from the urban hustle.

We went to Donana National Park with a tour company called Naturanda so if this is something that you’re interested in doing, don’t forget to check out our full guide on our experience on this tour. If you’re lucky you may also get to catch a glimpse of the Iberian lynx whilst you’re touring around the National Park.

You can do the National Park self-guided but the only thing we would say is that there are some areas that you will be unable to access without a certified tour guide. Due to this, we would say that it would be much more beneficial to book a tour instead so that you can have the full experience.

– Option 2: Day Trip to Gibraltar

Alternatively, take a day trip to Gibraltar from Seville, the British Overseas Territory known for its iconic Rock and unique cultural blend. Explore St. Michael’s Cave, meet the famous Barbary macaques, and enjoy panoramic views of both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Don’t forget to bring your passport!

The reason we say this is that we actually had booked a tour for Gibraltar and we got all the way there and forgot our passports so we wouldn’t want the same thing to happen to you! We honestly still had such a good day out and got to see the infamous Gibraltar rock but we would have much preferred to have been able to enter into the country.

Gibraltar Rock

Option 3: Day Trip to Tangier

If you’ve already visited Gibraltar and Donana National Park then taking a trip to Morocco may be more your style. This is a day trip that we honestly wish we had gone on. By the time we had done some of the activities we’d planned in Seville we ran out of time to take a trip to Tangier and it is a huge regret. However, there is always next time!

This is another long day trip and you can expect to be up early hours of the morning to be able to join the tour. However, it will be absolutely worth it especially if you’ve never visited Morocco before! We looked at doing a self-guided day trip to Morocco from Seville and we actually found that it was really difficult to do because of the length of the train and bus journey. With this in mind, this is another tour that we would recommend despite that we usually prefer self-guided.

– Evening

Return to Seville and indulge in a delicious meal at Bodegón Alfonso XII, a traditional Spanish restaurant with a warm ambiance. Enjoy classic dishes such as solomillo al whisky (pork loin in whisky sauce) and finish your meal with a glass of sherry.

This restaurant was just down the road from our apartments that we were staying in whilst we were in Seville so it was an easy place to stop and eat. We devoured the Pringa that they had to offer and it was one of our favourite places to visit due to this.

Day 3: A Day of Leisure and Sightseeing

09:00 – Breakfast at La Mala

Begin your last day with breakfast at La Mala, a local favourite known for its unique décor and creative dishes. Try the ‘tosta de aguacate’ (avocado toast) or the ‘churros con chocolate’ for a sweet start to the day.

When you’re doing this much exploring, you will want to have plenty of energy to get you through the day so this is definitely the perfect place to do so.

10:00 – Visit the Real Alcázar of Seville

The moment you’ve been waiting for has arrived! Finally you will get to explore the infamous Royal Alcázar, a stunning palace complex famous for its intricate Mudéjar architecture, lush gardens, and historical significance.

Wander through rooms adorned with beautiful tiles and carvings, and stroll the gardens where fountains and exotic plants create a tranquil atmosphere. It’s one of Seville’s top attractions and a filming location for “Game of Thrones.”

Due to it’s recent success of being in the Game of Thrones, it is unsurprising that this attraction has become increasingly popular. We would recommend booking the Alcazar in advance so that you can avoid disappointment.

12:00 – Parque de María Luisa

After visiting the Alcázar, head to Parque de María Luisa, Seville’s most famous public park. This vast green space is filled with picturesque gardens, fountains, and tiled benches.

Take a relaxing walk or rent a rowboat on the park’s pond. It’s a great place to escape the heat and enjoy a peaceful afternoon. Alternatively, if you’re travelling as a couple then you may want to pack yourselves a cute picnic to enjoy in the park and take in the sights!

13:00 – Lunch at Los Soportales

Pringa was easily one of our favourite tapas dishes that we've ever tried not just in Seville but ever! This image shows some of the pringa sandwiches piled up together that we got to have at Los Soportales.

When we went on the walking food tour, this was one of the stops that we went to and we really enjoyed that it was such a local place.

Often you will find that there are not many tables and you will need to stand and share a table with someone else but that is part of the charm and always a good omen for great food.

Enjoy a leisurely lunch at Los Soportales, a traditional tapas bar located near the park. Sample some local favorites like ‘espinacas con garbanzos’ (spinach and chickpeas) and ‘salmorejo’ (a thick gazpacho-like soup). Pair your meal with a glass of tinto de verano, a refreshing wine-based drink.

14:00 – Wander Around Seville Old Town & Get Lost

Spend the afternoon wandering through Seville’s old town, a maze of narrow streets, hidden squares, and historic buildings. When we done this ourselves, we were lucky enough to stumble across a couple of beautiful art galleries hidden away in a small courtyard. It is experiences like this that you will only find if you choose to get lost first!

The area around the Santa Cruz neighborhood is particularly charming, with its whitewashed houses, flower-filled balconies, and quiet courtyards. This is the perfect opportunity to explore without a plan and soak in the local atmosphere.

Liam browsing some different artwork down this small cosy courtyard that we found.

15:00 – Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza

Visit one of Spain’s most famous bullrings, the Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza. Even if you’re not attending a bullfight, the museum inside provides insight into the history and cultural significance of bullfighting in Spain. Guided tours are available, offering a glimpse into this controversial tradition.

No matter where your from, this is a really interesting place to visit and provides an interesting insight into Sevillian culture that you absolutely cannot miss!

16:30 – Sunset Cruise on the Guadalquivir River

Cap off your Seville adventure with a sunset cruise on the Guadalquivir River. As you glide along the water, you’ll see some of Seville’s most famous landmarks from a different perspective, including the Torre del Oro and Triana Bridge. The sunset adds a romantic touch to this relaxing experience.

There are multiple different versions of the river cruises so it is always worth checking out a few different tours to see how they compare. Some of the tours include lunch or dinner with some wine or champagne whereas others are a little more basic and offer just the sightseeing cruise.

We’ve added a few different examples of the tours that are available below so that you can decide what would be best for you and your travel companions!

18:00 – Dinner at Ovejas Negras

Whilst this wasn’t a restaurant that we had time to visit whilst we were in Seville, we have had so many recommendations from other travellers that we knew we had to include it on this itinerary.

End your final day in Seville with dinner at Ovejas Negras, a trendy tapas bar known for its innovative dishes and lively atmosphere. The menu offers a mix of traditional and modern tapas, with options like grilled octopus and foie gras burgers. It’s a great place to enjoy one last taste of Seville’s culinary scene.

19:30 – Drinks at El Rinconcillo

Finish your night at El Rinconcillo, Seville’s oldest bar, dating back to 1670. With its traditional décor and historic charm, it’s the perfect spot to raise a glass to a memorable trip. Try the house-made sherry or a classic Spanish vermouth.

Seville has so many different drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, to offer that you will be truly spoilt for choice. We enjoyed this small bar just because of the atmosphere and chilled out vibe that it has to offer visitors.
